Yes, there is a place where we can have our relationship recognized, legally.

Our heartfelt thanks to the wonderful people of Vermont for being one of the two places in this country to recognize that we are indeed a real family. We sincerely hope that this number continues to increase.

Stowe, Vermont, a small town just outside of Burlington was the warm town where our ceremony was held. Stowe also happened to be just north of the world famous Ben & Jerry's ice cream factory. And yes, they do give plenty of free samples.

Justice of the Peace, Greg Trulson begins the ceremony.

As the ceremony continued, we both stood there fighting back the tears, straining at times to get the words out, and getting the rings on each other's fingers. These pictures will never be able to show just how high our emotions were that day. Maybe one day we'll get the video converted and upload that. After all this time, watching the video still brings tears to our eyes.

The Civil Union process was complete. All told it was no more than 10 minutes from start to finish. After it was all over and we regained our composure, we were off to a wonderful dinner in town to celebrate.

Should anyone reading this ever decide to have a Civil Union performed in Vermont, we will highly recommend the Timberholm Inn. We look forward to a return visit soon.

Thank you for sharing this very special occasion with us.

We spent our time in Stowe at the Timberholm Inn. The owners were frendly, welcoming and most helpful in getting all of the details arranged for our ceremony. They were able to help us arrange flowers, photographers, and the Justice of the Peace. The grounds were beautiful, the rooms nicely appointed, and the entire setting was simply romance at its very best.

The ceremony was presided over by a wonderful yet very spiritual Justice of the Peace, Greg Trulson. He performed the ceremony with the highest of caring and made it a perfect experience. While it was only the two of us, Greg, and the photographer, it was one of the most memorable moments, ever, for either of us.

Greg had worked with us to write the words, from beginning to end. He lead each of us through the vows that we each prepared. Speaking those vows was one of the high points in our life together.
